South Africa is one of the worlds cornucopia of mineral riches, and mining plays a pivotal role in its socio economic development objectives. Whilst this notion of socioeconomic development may be the governments strategic tool for economic emancipation of its people, there is no hiding from the simple truth of mans need to survive in this brutal landscape of rich and poor. The 'We Are All Connected' Series explores this means-to-an-end and the often ingenious ways in how this is achieved.
As with all my sculptures, the relationship between positive and negative space is explored with shadow and is vital to the un-telling of the sculpture's story, so much so that the shadow becomes part of the sculpture itself.

One Mans Garbage is Another Mans Treasure - Street Art: With unemployment currently sitting above 26%, street art plays a pivotal roll in providing to the man who has nothing. Street art can be anything from an entrepreneur selling their craft; to no more than a poor man making something out of garbage found on a busy street.
